“We Are Family”: Candace Cameron Bure Stands by Lori Loughlin Amidst College Scandal

Lori Loughlin has been the subject of much criticism in recent weeks after the “Fuller House” star was indicted along with 50 others for taking part in a nationwide college admissions scheme involving her two daughters.

Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly paid $500,000 in order to make it look like daughters Olivia Jade (19) and Isabella Rose (20) were members of the USC women’s rowing team, when in fact they were not. The couple has also been accused of a conspiracy to commit mail fraud.

Loughlin has since been dropped from the Hallmark Channel, which stated: “We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations.”

Since the scandal broke headlines, the family has been spotlighted and shamed for the shady dealings.

But while most are shaking their fingers at Loughlin, co-star Candace Cameron Bure refuses to spew insults or cast public judgment.

Bure briefly spoke out about Loughlin’s alleged college admissions crimes in an appearance on the “Today” show. Instead of getting into the dirty details about what she calls a very “personal” issue, the Christian actress shared that she “stands by” Loughlin along with the rest of her “Fuller House” family, and they continue to pray for her and each other.

“It’s too personal to us and we would never want to talk about someone that’s such a dear and close friend,” said Bure. “I’ve already said that we are family and we stand by each other and pray for each other and we’ll always be there for each other.”

Alongside “Fuller House” costars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, Bure seemed to indirectly offer a message of support to Loughlin in March at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards.

“Thank you for voting “Fuller House” as your favorite funny TV show,” said Barber. “You have been laughing alongside of our family for four seasons and this family has a lot of heart.:

“And where there’s a lot of heart, there’s a lot of love,” stated Bure. “And a loving family sticks together no matter what.”

Though Loughlin wasn’t mentioned outright, many viewers felt it was implied when she added that their family “sticks together through the hard times.”

Loughlin and her husband have been released on $1 million bonds since being arrested in March. The couple is laying low in their Bel Air home during what a source close to the family calls “a very stressful time for them all.” Their lawyer has not responded to requests for comment.
